About BDO

At BDO, our accountants and advisors understand that value is about more than just money. We factor in benefits to society and believe that achieving balance in an annual report also means balancing work and private life. Because it is only when we consider everything that we can arrive at true value—the kind of value that benefits your business, your people, and the world. A different perspective on value is what we offer! New challenges demand new ideas. We provide individuals and organizations with insights and confidence in their true value. Our advice is data-driven, clear, and actionable. This is how we help people and organizations achieve their sustainable future. Curious about your true standing? BDO Code

True value is not solely about financial capital but also about the impact on people, the environment, and society. We ensure that everything we do holds value and makes a positive contribution. We achieve this through a set of shared values and principles that are embedded in our DNA.

Our BDO Code describes the meaning of these core values and their related behavioral principles. These form the foundation for how we, as BDO professionals—both individually and as a team—carry out our work and hold each other and third parties accountable. The BDO Code thus serves as the framework for our professional integrity and responsibility. It defines who we are and embodies the DNA that sets us apart and makes us successful.

Diversity and inclusion

BDO is a self-confident organization, with its own diversity and inclusion policy. The core of this is that we want to be an organization in which everyone feels free, welcome and safe, regardless of visible or invisible differences. We strive for a culture where everyone feels seen and valued. This is how we make a difference. For customers, society and the people around you.

International network

The global BDO network has more than 115,600 professionals in more than 1,750 offices spread across 166 countries and territories. We have local market knowledge and bundle this through our international network to serve you across countries. We can support you with your audit and annual accounts audit and by offering international tax and business financial advice.

Board of directors

Board of directors

The statutory management of each group company is (indirectly) comprised of the Executive Board of BDO Holding B.V., which acts as the representative of the formal statutory director of the respective group company. This structure ensures an unbroken chain of management within the BDO group, safeguarding the unity of policy to the greatest extent possible. The Participants’ Meeting directly elects the chairman and other members of the Executive Board from among its members. The Executive Board formulates and implements strategy, structures and directs the organization. The Executive Board consists of:

• René Nelis (CEO)
• Leon Jansen (CFO-COO)
• Maurice de Kleer (CQO)

Supervisory board

Since May 1, 2016, BDO has had a fully external Supervisory Board. This aligns with the measures set forth by the NBA Working Group on the Future of the Accountancy Profession, in which BDO was closely involved. The Supervisory Board’s role is to oversee the policies of the Executive Board and the general affairs of the BDO organization as a whole, with specific responsibilities related to the supervision of Audit & Assurance activities. The Supervisory Board consists of:

  • Danny van der Eijk (Chairman)
  • Heleen Kuijten
  • Engelhardt Robbe
  • Barbara Lamberts
  • Kim Smit
